Revising the past continuous
- Why did we use the past continuous?

The Past Continuous
Why? To talk about an activity that was continuing (in progress) for a longer period in the past and ended in the past.

How? 
was/were + verb + ing

The rule for past continuous + past simple in one sentence?
The longest action gets the past continuous, the shorter action gets the past simple.
