Period 4 Jack the Ripper - Lesson 1

The Jack the Ripper murders are cold cases.

You can investigate the Jack the Ripper cold case.

You can tell what the task of the period is.

You will know who Jack the Ripper is (if you don't already know)

Who is Jack the Ripper?

1. An uncaught serial killer who killed 5 women in 1888 in England
2. A serial killer put in jail until his death
3. A farmer of an English pig farm
4. A king who moved to Germany

Jack the Ripper is a suspect in 5 Cold cases where women were killed.
What do you think cold cases are?

1. Very new cases
2. Very old cases
3. Very old solved cases
4. Very old unsolved cases

TASK (at the end)

You know the murderer goes by the name 'Jack the Ripper', however, you don't truly know who Jack the Ripper is because he uses this as his Nick name.

After all, there are 5 persons that are suspected to be the one and only 'Jack the Ripper. 

You will choose one suspect together and  make a video in which you explain why you suspect this person to be Jack the Ripper using the evidence you have found during the first few lessons. 

Therefore, make notes meanwhile you are going through the lessons!

You can prepare for the end task of this period by:

Collecting evidence that tells who the suspects are.

What does 'investigating the suspects' mean?

You have listened to the sound. Why do you think the woman is screaming?

You are going to look at the media about Jack The Ripper. Go to this slide in Blink (period 4, lesson 2, 4th slide) and make notes about what you know more about the case because you will need this information for the end task. 

Go to period 3 - hv, lesson 2, 4th slide

Go to the next slide in Blink (period 4, slide 5), open the file and watch the video and answer the following question:
'What is the biggest problem when investigating the identity of Jack the Ripsycopaths back in the day making it hard to find the correct suspectper?'

1. There are lots of people that could have done it.
2. There were many psychopaths back in the days so there are a lot of suspects.
3. He was friends with the police.
4. The police were busier with other cases.

Make a profile of your suspect and list your evidence against him.

Explain why you think he may or may not have been Jack the Ripper.

Prepare a 3-minute presentation about your findings and record it on video.
