Past Simple
  • Wat zijn een aantal woorden waaraan je de past simple herkend?
  •  Hoe maak je de past simple? (Regular verbs, irregular verbs, negative and questioning form)

Examples
  • Regular verb: Base of the verb + ed.
  • Ex: Last week she walked her dog.

  •  Irregular verb: You have got to study these.
  • Ex: Yesterday I ate empanadas.

  • Negative form: Did not (didn't) + base of the verb.
  • Ex: No, she didn't walk her dog last week.

  • Questioning form: Did + subject (persoon/ding) + base of the verb.
  • Ex: Did you walk my dog?

Imperative
  • Wat ging er hier mis?
  •  Imperative is waarschijnlijk een van de grammatica vormen die je het meest hoort op school.
  • Het gaat hier om een bevel (command), verzoek (request) of instructie (instruction).
  • Wordt gemaakt door gebruik te maken van de base van de verb en zonder een subject (persoon/ding) te noemen aangezien je daar al tegen praat.

  • Command: Forcing somebody to do something.
  • Ex: Sit down, Go away, Watch your step!
  •   Instructions: Tell someone how to do something.
  • Ex: Take a left at the traffic light, Add 350 grams of flour.
  • Request: Asking something without asking (like before mentioned: I'm not asking, I am telling you)
  • Ex: Please pass the salt, Call your grandmother.
