How do YOU listen?

Aims

At the end of this class you will be able to know the difference between passive and active listening

You will also know 1 phrase that will help you be a more active listener

Question

What is listening?

We ask the question: what changed?

The reason I show this video is to have listeners become aware of the things they might miss in a conversation when they focus on the wrong things. If they have a goal in mind for said conversation, they might miss subtle hints.

What is listening actively?

1. Not thinking about what you will say next

2. Asking follow-up questions that deepen the conversation

3. Ask questions that contain their emotion/feelings: e.g. - How did that make you feel when he said XYZ?

Have a conversation until you know the following things:
1. What do they truly want
2. What is their most precious item/memory

3. Who do they look up to (or not)
