You know what the 5 forms of the future are.

You can use these forms in the correct context.

1. to be going to + hele ww

• als het plan er al was vóór het gesprek
• bij een voorspelling gebaseerd op een aanwijzing

• I am going to do my homework straight away when I get home.
• She looks so sad. She is going to cry.

2. will + hele ww

• bij een plan dat spontaan ontstaat
• bij een belofte
• bij een voorspelling gebaseerd op een mening
• bij feiten
• bij onzekerheid (think, hope, probably, maybe, etc)

• I will buy some chocolate for movie night tonight.
• Have you cleaned your room? No, but I will!
• You will do great on the test!
• There will be a full moon tonight.
• I hope I will be on time.

3. present simple

• dingen die volgens een schema of rooster gebeuren; vertrektijden van het OV en vluchten, openingstijden van winkels, roosters van werk en school, programmering van televisie of voorstellingen.

• Dad's plane leaves in 5 min.
• The show starts at 7 o'clock.
• We need to hurry: the shop closes at 5.

4. present continuous

• bij dingen die al gepland zijn en vrijwel zeker gaan gebeuren; er zijn al dingen voor geregeld.

• We're going on holiday to Greece this summer. 
• I'm visiting my grandma this afternoon.
• Sarah's hosting a party on Saturday.

5. shall + hele ww

• bij vraagzinnen met I of we
• bij een beleefd aanbod of voorstel

• Shall I carry your bag for you?
• Shall I make a reservation at the restaurant? 
• Shall we go?
