exercises 40, p.30

ATTENTION: there is a mistake in it!

The mistake in 40:

In the 3rd line it says: 

'drops 0.03 degrees Celsius',

but this should be: 

'goes up 0.03 degrees Celsius'!

Please correct this with pencil(!) in your book.

Solution exercise 40:

a. At a depth of 200 metres the Temperature is 

20 + 0.03 x 200 = 26 degrees Celsius.

b. The formula for this mine is:

T = 20 + 0.03 x d

solution 40c:

For this mine also goes the same kinda formula:

T = b + 0.03 x d, but now with another outside temperature b.

Let us fill in (400, 30) in this formula!

Solution 40c:

(400, 30)   in   T = b + 0.03 x d      gives us:

30 = b + 0.03 x 400

30 = b + 12,  so

b = 18 , which is the outside temperature.

Now do the other exercises.
