We use the Present perfect to talk about actions that happened and finished in the past, but we don't know exactly when or it is not important when: I have read a lot of biographies. 

or action that happened in the past and the result is visible in the present: Eddie has painted the house.

3.5 Present Perfect
De present perfect heeft alles te maken met het verleden en het nu. Voor het verleden ken je al de past simple en de past continuous, tijden die je gebruikt voor iets dat al is afgelopen of al is gebeurd.

De present perfect heeft ook nu nog invloed of is nog steeds bezig. Het is de voltooid tegenwoordige tijd, dus aan de ene kant is het al voltooid (in het verleden), maar is het ook nog bezig of heeft het nog invloed (in het heden

3.5 Present Perfect 
De Present Perfect bestaat uit twee delen. 
Je begint altijd met een vorm van ‘to have’ (have/has)  + een voltooid deelwoord achteraan. 

Dat voltooid deelwoord vorm je meestal door de stam van een werkwoord te nemen en er +ed aan toe te voegen. Het voltooid deelwoord van ‘to work’ is dus de stam (work) + -ed = worked. 

Let op: sommige onregelmatige werkwoorden luisteren niet goed naar deze regel (bijv. to lose → lost en to find → found). Deze uitzonderingen moet je uit je hoofd leren.

Time expressions: ever, never, since then, just, already

Past simple: to talk about finished actions in past time. You know when it happend
