Slide 5 - Diapositive

What is the "cloud"?
  • A network of computers (also called cloud)

  • Programs and saved documents are no longer on your own computer, but on a computer somewhere in the cloud

Examples of cloud services
With OneDrive you can store documents and other files in your own personal cloud and share them with other people.
Outlook is Office365's free email service. It allows you to send emails with your personal school email address.
With Word you can create documents. You can then save them in your OneDrive.
You can create spreadsheets with Excel. You can then save also these in your OneDrive.
PowerPoint allows you to create presentations. You can then also save these in your OneDrive.
Skype allows you to hold video conferences. This is useful for group work, for example.

How does the Office365 cloud work?
Office365 is actually one big hard drive that all Office programs use. The advantage of this is that it does not matter which Office365 program you use, you can always access your files from any program!

Now that you have seen how you can create a document in the cloud and then share it with someone, you are now going to try this yourself.

We just created a document called exercise lesson 1. Now share the file with your neighbour and ask if he/she wants to answer the question in your document. Share your file with edit rights.

If that is successful, create a new document yourself and share it with the permissions can comment and can view and then see how this works.
