Prepositions 

Goal: I can use prepositions of instrument, connection, origin and direction correctly.

Prepositions = voorzetsels

 

Prepositions 

Susan and I travelled there by train. I sat with her. She is from Germany. We drank from our Starbucks cups made of paper. Paper is made from wood. We travelled across the country, through cities and vallies and into our new lives.

Prepositions of connection (=connectie)

Preposition of Intrument

Prepositions of instrument zijn voorzetsels die laten zien (1) hoe iets wordt gedaan of (2) wat wordt gebruikt om iets te doen. 

By: Bij transport. (I went there by train.)

With: Hoe je iets gebruikt. (I tighten my shoes with laces.)

With/ on: Machines of apparaten. (I call with/ on my phone.)

Preposition of Connection

Prepositions of connection zijn voorzetsels die laten zien (1) wat iemand bezit of (2) hoe twee mensen of dingen in connectie staan (fysiek of in verwant). 

Of: Bezit laten zien. (The bag of the student.)

With: In verwant. (I shop with my friend.)

to: fysiek in contact. (I hold my hand out to him.)

Preposition of Origin

Prepositions of origin zijn voorzetsels die laten zien (1) waar iets of iemand vandaan komt. 

From: waar iets of iemand vandaan komt (I borrow the book from him. I heard that from him.)

Preposition of direction and movement

Prepositions of direction and movement zijn voorzetsels die laten zien (1) in welke richting iets of iemand beweegd. 

Prepositions: across, onto, along, out of, past, through, down, to, into, towards. 

I walk towards the entrance. 

We have to go through the forest. 

Made of/ Made from

Prepositions of direction and movement zijn voorzetsels die laten zien (1) welk materiaal iet mee is gemaakt, of (2) waarvan is gemaakt. 

Made of: Waarmee iets gemaakt is (That necklace is made of pearles an thread.)

Made from: Waarvan iets is gemaakt (staat van het materiaal is veranderd). (Wine is made from grapes.)
