Past perfect continuous

Bij de past perfect continuous ligt er meer nadruk op het feit dat iets een tijdje gaande was. Je wilt dus drie dingen tegelijkertijd uitdrukken.

Je wilt zeggen dat:

• iets was gebeurd.
  
• het voor iets anders gebeurde.
  
• het een tijdje duurde / steeds weer gebeurde.

Past perfect continuous

You make the past perfect continuous like this:

had + been + verb + -ing

For example: we had been walking/ he had been speaking/I had been running
