Aim of Today's Lesson

By the end of class you can give examples/can explain:

• What the present simple in a sentence is.
  
• What happens to a verb in the present tense when the subject of a sentence is she/he/it
  
• How to use 'to be', 'to have', 'to do' in a sentence in the present simple

What are pronouns and prepositions?

Nouns:  a word that is a name of something

Verbs:    a word that says something about an action or a state           

               

Adjectives:  a word that describes a noun
                      

Adverbs:    A word that says more about a verb
                    

Pronouns:     A word that can replace a noun          

                        

Prepositions:     Words that link nouns, pronouns and               

                             phrases to other words in a sentence

Present Simple

We use the Present Simple to describe HABITS and FACTS in the present

Examples:

• He crawls to school every day
• It rains, it pours.

If you can replace the noun with the pronouns she/he/it you add an ‘s’ to the end of the verb in the present tense

Examples: 

The beautiful unicorn jumps in the rain

Bob runs around the field

I scream, she screams, he screams, we all scream for ice cream
