Two ways:

1. using to be or auxiliary verbs (hulpwerkwoorden can, may, 

    will).

 

2.Do or does when other verbs are used

All placed at the beginning of a sentence

Questions using present s.

Examples:

I am you classmate.

Are you my classmate?

I like food

Do you like food?

Negative sentence

Hoe zit het hier dan mee?

Negative sentences

• To be: I'm not the boss/ - I can't be there - I will not do that

'To be - can - will' not in the sentence? Use do not:

• I don't like that food.
• He does not/ doesn't know how to do that.
