Present perfect

Present Perfect (5 minutes)

Write the following sentences in the present perfect:

1. Ben/play/football.
2. Suzan/read/her new book.
3. I/find/some money in the street.
4. Mr and Mrs Baker/have/an accident.
5. Thom Davis/win/the tennis match.

How is the present perfect made?

Regular verb: 

have/has + voltooid deelwoord (werkwoord + -ed)

Irregular verb: 

have/has + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

Begon in het verleden en is

• nu nog bezig of...
• heeft nog effect op het nu of...
• is een ervaring tot nu toe.

But the present perfect continuous 

Ezelsbruggetje = Duurt lang:!

 present perfect vs present perfect continuous...

Present perfect: 

1. geen nadruk op tijdsduur (in het verleden begonnen en duren nog steeds voort)
   
2. eenmalige gebeurtenis (nadruk ligt op het resultaat van iets dat in het verleden is gebeurd)
   
3. in het verleden gebeurd (wanneer is niet belangrijk/duidelijk)
   
4. zojuist of kortgeleden gebeurd
   

Present perfect continuous:

1. nadruk op tijdsduur (in het verleden begonnen en duren nog steeds voort)
   
2. dingen gebeuren langere tijd, komen vaker voor of zijn een gewoonte. (nadruk ligt op het resultaat van iets dat in het verleden is gebeurd)
