Als een werkwoord op –y eindigt, eindigt de past simple op –ied:

To try - tried

What is the past simple of:
''to stay'' ?

Past simple

Als de –y na een andere klinker komt ( a, e, i, o, u ), eindigt de past simple gewoon op –ed :

Past simple

Many verbs are irregular (onregelmatig):

- To be = was / were

- To know = knew

- To make = made

- Etc...

Present perfect

Have / has + past participle (volt deelwoord)

Voltooid deelwoord = hele ww + ed

Wanneer...

Past simple?
Als in de zin duidelijk staat wanneer iets in het verleden gebeurde: yesterday, last week, in 2005 , of als er gevraagd wordt naar dat moment met when.

Wanneer...

Present perfect?
Als iets nog steeds bezig is. Je gebruikt dan in de zin vaak de woorden since, for, from, until now, so far, ever, yet of how long.
