will and going to

Both "will" and "going to" are future tenses . They look like each other, because of this we can easily confuse them with each other. 

will 

We use "will" to talk about the future. 

We use to:

To make a factual statement about the future

I will take an english test next week

To make predictions , especially when they are based on our own thoughts or beliefs

I think I will ace the english test next week

To make offers 

I will give you a cup of tea

We also use "going to" to talk about the future. 

We use "going to" to:

If you had a prior plan.

You already made the decision prior to talking about it.

When there is evidence

If there is clear evidence that something is going to happen we use "going to"

Predictions

If it is based on our own knowledge and opinions we use will.

If it is based on the situation and what we can see we use going to.
