The do's and don'ts of recycling. What do you already recycle at home? Why do you do this?

You might already recycle but are you doing it the right way??? 

Name one thing you know you can't throw in the paper recycle bin.

You can throw you receipts from stores in the paper recycling bin.

You can throw you pizza boxes from restaurants in the paper recycling bin.

You can throw you paper coffee cups in the paper recycling bin.

2. No, because of the plastic layer inside the cup.

Which of these three did you not know?

You can throw balloons in with the plastic waste. Yes/no and explain why.

No! 

A balloon is not made from plastic but from latex. 

A broken drinking glass can be thrown away in the glass recycle bin.

1. glass is glass, so yes
2. no because it has a different melting point than bottles.

A broken window can be thrown away in the glass recycle bin.

1. yes, glass is still glass
2. no, because it has a different melting point than bottles

In which bin would you throw your tea bag/ coffee pad?

I bet you said organic waste, but NO!

You should throw it in the residual waste bin. 

WHY?? 

Because most tea bags / coffee pads contain a form of plastic. 

Assignment

This week you will show what you and your family already  recycle at home. You will take at least 10 pictures, be creative! 

Then describe, per picture, what you are recycling, how and why! 

Hand in

Place all of the pictures and descriptions into a google document. Hand it in through Simulise
