when do we use "will"?

- Spontaneous (you decide something at the moment)

- Prediction (no clues)

Verb: will + infinitive (hele werkwoord)

Example 

I will get the cake.

She says she will leave now.

James will pick the chicken salad. 

when do we use "going to"?

- Planned (something cannot be changed)

- Prediction (based on clues)

Verb: to be + going to + infinitive (hele werkwoord)

Example 

I am going to accept the job offer.

 She is going to fail her test, because she didn't study.

He is going to travel to Spain.
