Tell you something about a noun or a personal pronoun

Place: before a noun or after it when you use a linking verb like 'to be', 'to become', to seem' etc.

Also called 'linking verbs'

The house looks horrible

e.g. to be, to become, to appear, to seem etc (p. 281)

Tell you something about verbs, adjectives, adverbs or clauses.

Place: depending on the adverb!

How to form adverbs?
Regular forms:
adjective +ly

 happy = happily
gentle = gently
true = truly
full = fully
