The rebirth of antiquity

• Renaissance (1500-1600) = Rebirth 👶

• The Middle Ages were not the best times to live in.💀

• People start to long back to the time of Antiquity.🙂💭

       = Culture of the Greeks and Romans.

Middle Ages:

Black Death, wars, no knowledge, bad hygiene.

Renaissance:

The rebirth of art and knowledge.

Leonardo da Vinci

A painter, a sculptor, an architect, etc., etc.

Homo Universalis

= a person who is an expert in 

    many different fields.

Powerful Italian city-states

Why did it start in Northern Italy?

• There were rich city-states and people.

        -> Trade (Venice, Florence, Genoa).💸

• Antiquity was still visible in Rome.🏺
• Refugees/knowledge from the east.😨

Roman history is still visible in Northern Italy.

Middle Ages:

Almost no big cities.

Renaissance:

Many cities in Northern Italy.
