• The middle ages were not the best times to live in.
• People start to long back to the time of Antiquity.
• Knowledge was lost in the middle ages, thanks to the crusades we get this knowledge back.

• There were rich city states and people
• Antiquity was still visible in Rome
• Refugees/knowledge from the east
