Humble Beginnings 
  • Nixon attended Whittier College (Whittier, California)to stay home to help take care of his sick father and his store 
  •  After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelors in History Nixon attended Duke University School of Law 
  • While at Duke Nixon became known a a great debater and was chosen elected the President of the University's Bar Association 
  • After graduating from duke in 1937 he had hopes of joining the FBI but was turned down due to budget cuts

  • Nixon was admitted to the California Bar in 1937
  • He started out dealing with corporate cases and wills for Wingert and Bewley  
  • In 1938 He opened his own branch in the company and became a full partner the next year

  • In 1946 Nixon defeated five-term veteran congress man Jerry Voorhis (D) to Represent California in the House of Representatives   
  • In 1948 Nixon worked as the lead committee member in investigating accused Soviet spy Alger Hiss, who was accused of spying for the Soviets 
  • In 1950 Nixon was elected to the U.S. Senate

  • As Vice President Richard Nixon Saw it as his duty to fight Communism
  • In 1960 Nixon Ran for President but lost to Democrat John F. Kennedy 
  • Nixon would Finally become President after defeating Hubert Humphry

  • Nixon founded the Environmental Protection Agency 
  • Over saw the peaceful desegregation of schools in the south 
  • lowered the age to vote from 21 to 18 
  • Gave land back to the Natives 
  • Ended the US involvement in Vietnam and welcomed home thousands of US soldiers

Presidency tarnished by scandal 
  • On June 17th 1972 The Democrat National Headquarters at the Watergate office building was broken into  
  • Nixon was found that Nixon was involved and hired the five men to break in to spy on the Democrats before the election 
  • Richard Nixon Resigned on August 8, 1974 after it was said that there would be an impeachment trial for his involvement and cover up of water gate
