  • For minutes 1-30 we use PAST after the minutes
  • O'clock when it's a full hour (ten o'clock - not two past ten o'clock)
  • 15 minutes = a quarter (to or past) - 3:15 = a quarter past three

  • Am = Ante Meridiem (meaning before the afternoon)
  • Pm = Post Meridiem (meaning after the afternoon)


  • Am - from 1 at night (00:01) until 12 in the morning (12:00) 
  • Pm - From 12:01 until 23:59 at night
  • AM = After Midnight
