Prepositions of time and place

Je gebruikt de prepositions of time and place om aan te geven wanneer/waar iets gebeurd. 

Prepositions = voorzetsel. 

In het Engels hebben we er 3: 

in, on & at. 

Prepositions of time: 

You use on with days and dates: (on bij dagen & data) 

- We play soccer on Saturday. 

- I was born on the 15th of May. 

You use in with months, years, seasons and specific parts of the day. (in bij maanden, jaren, seizoenen en dagdelen)

- I woke up in the morning. 

- I was born in May 

Prepositions of time: 

You use at with times and holidays. (at bij tijden & feestdagen) 

- School starts at 08:15. 

- I see my aunt and uncle at Christmas. 

Prepositions of place: 

You use on with public transport and when you mean ‘on top of’. (On bij OV & als je op iets bedoelt) 

- I was on the bus 

- My phone is on the table

You use in with places in nature, countries and when you mean ‘inside’. (In bij de natuur, landen & als je in iets bedoelt) 

- We walked in a forest. 

- I live in The Netherlands. 

You use at with specific locations, house numbers, and (names of) buildings.(at bij specifieke locaties, huis nummers & (namen van) gebouwen). 

- I am at the dentist. 

- I am at the station

Future (toekomende tijd) 

In het kort: 

Toekomende tijd: Future. 

De toekomst aangeven. Dit kan op 4 manieren: 

- I will miss you : Will. -->25% (dat het doorgaat/gebeurd)

- It's goin to rain : Going to + werkwoord. --> 70%

- We are travelling tomorrow : Present Continuous. --> 90%

- My train leaves at 10 o'clock : Present Simple. --> 100%

Will

Je gebruikt will bij beloftes, aankondigen en besluiten. 

I will do my laundry tomorrow. 

I think we will win the lottery. 

to be going to

Je gebruikt am/are/is + going to + hele ww als je wilt aangeven dat iemand iets in de toekomst van plan is.  In Nederlands gebruik je vaak het woord: gaan 

I am going to call you later. 

It is going to rain today. 

Present Continuous

Je gebruikt de PC om te praten over afspraken in de nabije toekomst. (vliegreis, afspraak met iemand o.i.d.) 

We are flying to Australia tomorrow. 

I am playing a hockey match on Wednesday. 

am/are/is + hele ww + ing

Present Simple

Je gebruikt de PS om te praten over vasstaande toekomst, rooster of schema. 

The plane to London leaves in an hour. 

School starts at 08.25.
