Verschil "will" en "to be going to"

Will	To be going to
Je bent iets van plan, maar weet het nog niet zeker.	Je hebt je vastgelegd om iets te doen, en/of er is bewijs voor.
I think it will rain this afternoon.	Look at those clouds, it is going to rain!
Pete will study Law next year.	Wendy is going to study English in Cambridge.

In de praktijk worden ze ook door elkaar gebruikt. 

Future tenses, vaste uitdrukkingen

Er zijn ook een aantal vaste uitdrukkingen (uit je hoofd leren) die aangeven dat iets in de toekomst gaat gebeuren.

to be about to....	op het punt staan om te...
to hope to....	hopen dat....
to be due to...	het staat op het punt te gebeuren...
