The big picture
Africa is a continent (not a country).
Africa has 54 countries.
In the past, Africa had many empires and kingdoms. But the country borders today are largely a result of colonisation of Africa by European countries.
The countries are all different. But in terms of human geography, they share many characteristics, such as high percentage of young people and high percentage of workforce in farming.
