Reading strategies: 
Skimming – Reading quickly to get a general overview of the text (photos, headings, opening/closing sentences of paragraphs, previewing book).
Scanning – Reading quickly a text for important facts (key words, bold printed words/italics).
Close reading – Focusing on what the author has to say, the author’s purpose, searching for accurate information.
Predicting – To envision what will come next in the text, based on prior knowledge.
