Adjectives 

• Je gebruikte een bijvoeglijk naamwoord (adjective) om iets te zeggen over een zelfstandig naamwoord. Je doet niets met dit woord (niks ervoor, niets erachter).

Adverbs

• Je gebruikt een bijwoord om iets te zeggen over een hoe iets gebeurt (vaak een werkwoord)

• Je maakt een bijwoord door -ly achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord te zetten.

EXCEPTIONS: adverbs 

• De spelling verandert wanneer het bijvoeglijk naamword eindigt op:

1.      -LE dan verandert -LE in -LY

• terrible - terribly                                         unbearable - unbearibly

  2.       medeklinker + y. Dan verandert -y in -ily. 

• angry - angrily                                            merry - merrily

EXCEPTIONS: adverbs 

 3.     -ic. Dan komt er -ally achter. 

• fantastic - fantastically                                       epic - epically 
  

 4.      Sterke bijwoorden 

• He's a good artist. - He plays well.
  
• She's a fast runner. - She runs fast.

Adjectives and adverbs

5. LET OP:

• Na de werkwoorden to be, to seem, to feel, to look, to smell, to sound en to taste gebruik je een bijvoeglijk naamwoord in plaats van een bijwoord. 

• This game looks beautiful. 
• The bread tastes awful. 
• The band sounds amazing. 
• This gadget is great.
