Possession 

Je gebruikt bijna altijd ‘s : Kate’s books,  the children’s bikes 

Maar, als een woord (meervoud) al eindigt op een –s. Gebruik je alleen een apostrof ‘ 

My parent’s house, those girls’ friends

Als je een naam van een persoon, winkel, product bedoeld of uitdrukkingen die tijd aanduiden kun je allebei gebruiken:

Charles’ / Charles’s wife

Yesterday’s / Yesterdays’ news

Wanneer je aan wilt geven dat iets ergens bij hoort, gebruik je …of… (Voor dingen, plaatsen en landen) The capital of England, the roof of the school
