What is the equator?

It is an imaginary line around the middle of the Earth.

Slide 3 - Diapositive

There are rainforests in South America, South East Asia and Africa.  All of these areas are close to the equator.
This is because there is plenty of sunshine and rainfall near the equator.

Slide 4 - Diapositive

The rainforests are very important to the world.
The vegetation there (trees and plants) take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen for us to breathe.
