What does your group know about Amnesty International?

What does Amnesty do?

• Amnesty stands up for Human Rights by campaining, protesting, researching and teaching about it. 
• During Write for Rights you will show that you support the people we talk about.
• Because of this project, we help them! Governments reslease them from prison and stop the abuse. The people feel supported and will continue with their work.

Rights always apply to everyone, everywhere.

What do we mean when we talk about rights?

1. a right is like a law, if you violate it, you will be punished.
2. a right is like a rule in a game, it creates fair rules and agreements.
3. a right is like a punishment, if you do something that you shouldn't, you will get a right.

Obligations (plichten)

Besides rights, you also have obligations. 

Rights are there to protect you, an obligation is a course of action that someone is required to take, whether legal or moral.

Denzel has just finished his school day. He would rather like to go outside and play with his friends than stay home and study for tomorrow's History test.

Rights of the Child

There are special rights for children. Human rights are in place for everyone, Rights of the Child are specifically for children.
