The Future Tense

We hebben in het Engels verschillende manieren

om de toekomst aan te duiden.

In deze les leer je hoe je volgende tenses gebruikt:

• The Present Simple Future
• Will + The Infinitive
• Am / Are / Is + Going To + The Infinitive
• Am / Are / Is + Werkwoord + -ing
• Will + Be + Werkwoord + -ing

The Present Simple Future

gebruik je als je het hebt over dingen

die volgens een schema lopen.

"The show starts at 8 o'clock."

"The sale ends this afternoon."

Will + The infinitive (het hele werkwoord)

gebruik je bij beloftes, als je iets aanbiedt of bij voorspellingen.

"I will make you some soup."

"We will help you with your presentation."

"It will rain next week."

Am / Are / Is + Going To + The Infinitive

gebruik je bij plannen waarvoor je 

nog niets georganiseerd hebt.

"They are going to travel to Australia someday."

Am / Are / Is + Werkwoord + -ing

gebruik je bij plannen waarvoor je 

wel al iets georganiseerd hebt.

"I am watching the football game with my friends tonight."

"We are having a party for my birthday tomorrow."

Will + Be + Werkwoord + -ing

gebruik je om te zeggen dat iets aan de gang zal zijn

op een specifiek tijdstip in de toekomst.

"They will be watching the fireworks at midnight tomorrow."

"This time next week, we will be meeting again."

Kortom:

Je kan het op verschillende manieren over de toekomst hebben in het Engels;

"The train arrives at 7 o'clock." --> the present simple future

"I will help you with your homework." --> will + hele ww

"She is going to learn Russian." --> am / are / is + going to + hele ww

"She is playing field hockey next Monday." --> am / are / is + hele ww + -ing

"I will be working until 6 o'clock every day next week." --> will + be + hele ww + -ing
