LESSON AIMS: By the end of today's lesson, 

1. I will be able to clearly define a humanitarian emergency. 

2. I will have increased my vocabulary to be able to exchange views on the topic of humanitarian assistance.

crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Haiti Earthquake, War in the Ukraine.

We are going to watch a short film ‘Our world, your move, for humanity’ 

Think about key words or phrases to describe the humanitarian perspectives seen in the film clip. 

c. Show students the short film ‘Our world, your move, for humanity’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCdD5LjppvE and ask them to look for evidence of the key words or phrases identified in their humanitarian perspectives

Group activity : 

 Brainstorm and record all of the words, images and phrases that come to mind when you think about the examples of humanitarian emergencies seen here . Use the questions in the hotspots to help!

Groups no larger than five people. One of you must take notes of your answers. 

Do humanitarian emergencies always happen suddenly?

Is everyone equally vulnerable to humanitarian emergencies? If not, why?

Does it matter who knows about the event for it to be considered a humanitarian emergency?

Select the words from your group's brain-stormed list you feel best portrays a picture of a humanitarian emergency.
