1. Put together a little presentation (use Word/Powerpoint) about a tradition or celebration from a culture of choice. You can choose which tradition or celebration! You choose 1 picture that represents the tradition or celebration. 
2. Describe what you see on the picture and explain what the tradition or celebration means to you and your culture. 
  • Phase 1: Describe the picture in Dutch. You may explain in English. 
  • Phase 2 + 3: Speak in Dutch. (Phase 2 may use keywords around the picture)

- Explain why or why not you would want to try this tradition or celebration

Writing task: Write a letter with your New Year's resolutions
1. This writing task is a mix between the 'Nieuwjaarsbrief' and the 'Goede Voornemens'
2. You are going to write a letter in Dutch to your teacher in which you reflect on the last year and write your New Year's resolutions. Share the letter with me, I will give you feedback. 
3. Content of the letter:
- Start with: Beste mevrouw Jansen and introduce yourself
- Tell me your happiest memory of 2020 and why this is your happiest memory
+ something you regret from the last year and why (only phase 2 + 3)
- List 3 'Goede voornemens' and explain why they are your resolutions. 
- Extra phase 3: Leg uit of goede voornemens maken volgens jou zinvol is of niet en waarom. 
- End your letter with 'Groetjes, 'your name'
--> You may decorate your letter so it is a real 'Nieuwjaarsbrief'

Formal formative criterion C: Speaking task
1. In this unit we have learned about Dutch traditions and celebrations. For this speaking formative you put together a presentation about your favourite Dutch tradition or celebration. Choose 1 picture that represents the Dutch tradition or celebration. 
2. Content of the presentation:
- Present what you see on the picture 
- Explain what the tradition or celebration is about + when and where it is celebrated
- Explain why you chose this tradition or celebration
- Phase 3: Explain what this tradition or celebration tells you about the Dutch culture.
3. Speaking time
Phase 1/2: between 1,5 and 2 minutes
Phase 3/3+: between 2 and 3 minutes
