Why is pronunciation important?

Do you remember the Past Simple?

3 soorten zinnen..

       bevestigend                     ontkennend                      vragend

Past Simple: bevestigend

- Verleden tijd: PAST simple

- Iets wat al is gebeurd en voorbij is:

      "I walked to school this morning."

      "We looked at each other."

- Heeft soms ook een tijdsbepaling, zoals: this morning, yesterday, last week...

Het kan werkwoord + "ed" zijn, maar er zijn ook uitzonderingen zoals:

Uitzonderingen

- Werkwoorden waarvan de stam met -e eindigt, zoals: dance, use, smile, vote... 

Dan voeg je alleen een -d toe:

 danced, used, smiled, voted...

Onregelmatige werkwoorden

- Onregelmatige werkwoorden: uit je hoofd leren

Pagina 173-174 in je boek staat een lijst met onregematige werkwoorden!!!

Voorbeelden:

To buy - bought - bought

To wear - wore - worn

To begin - began - begun

To sing - sang - sung

Neem over in je schrift:

In een ontkennende zin...

..gebruik je ALTIJD didn't + hele werkwoord

Let op! De -ed achter het werkwoord verdwijnt!

--> He didn't play a match on Sunday.

In een vragende zin...

.. begin je ALTIJD met did

.. daarna komt het onderwerp (wie of wat)

.. daarna gebruik je het hele werkwoord

Ontkennende zinnen

Bij een ontkennende zin, veranderd de zin volgorde. Voorbeeld:

"I walked to school this morning." ->>>>>

"I did not walk to school this morning"

"They liked the movie yesterday." ->>>>>

"They did not like the movie yesterday."

De formule verandert naar:

Onderwerp + did not + hele werkwoord 

Dus geen -ed!!

did not -> didn't

• He played a match on Sunday.
• He didn't play a match on Sunday. 
  
  
• She worked at a snackbar.
• She didn't work at a snackbar. 
  
  
• Verstappen won the race.
• Verstappen didn't win the race.

• He played a match on Sunday.
  
• Did he play a match on Sunday?
  
  
• She worked at a snackbar.
  
• Did she work at a snackbar?
  
  
• Verstappen won the race.
  
• Did Verstappen win the race?

How to pronounce: Past Simple

If the sound (stam) ends with .... you pronounce it like......

f, k, p, sh, ch, s, x	b, g, j, l, m, n, r, v, z	t, d
-t	-d	-id
Example: cooked, searched, asked, helped	Example: approved, closed, turned, moved	Example: ended, twisted, acted, folded
