After Hitler takes (half of) Poland he focuses on Western-Europe

• The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway and even France are taken quickly by the German blitzkrieg

The Nazis tried to bomb Britain so that they would surrender

The German army then prepated to invade the Soviet Union:

• Hitler wanted lebensraum for the German people
• Hitler wanted to defeat communism
• Hitler needed oil

The Germans move fast but come to a standstill near Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad

The USA first helps both Britain and the Soviet Union with goods

• End 1941 they join the war
• In 1944 they land on the beaches in occupied France: D-Day
