Direct speech: Robert said: I like football.

indirect: Robert said that he LIKED football.

past simple -> past perfect

Direct: She said: I studied for hours.

Indirect: She said that she HAD STUDIED for hours.

present perfect -> past perfect

Direct: May said: I have watched that documentary.

Indirect: May said that she HAD WATCHED that documentary.

Discuss + write down (in pairs)

You are going to use the indirect speech to change the following quotes, example:

Direct: I am Iron Man!  

Who said it? Tony Stark!  ->  Indirect: He said that he was Iron Man.
