 -Countable nouns & uncountable nouns

 Example: houses & milk

                    

Much & Many

Much: A lot, uncountable noun, mostly used in interrogative and negative sentences.

eg: How much water can you drink?

        We don't have much time

Many: A lot, countable noun,  used in all kinds of sentences. 

ex. How many friends do you have?

      We have so many friends. / You didn't have many options.

A little & A few

A little: small amount (een beetje), uncountable noun.

ex. I found a little gold in the river! 

A few: small amount (een paar), countable nouns.

ex. I have a few dollars in my pocket.

Little & Few 

Little: a very small amount (weinig), uncountable noun.

ex. There is little sugar at home.

Few: a very small amount (weinig). countable noun.

ex. There are few cupcakes left.

When do you use few/ a few?

Negative sentence: Very few people walk up the mountain. 

*Not enough amount of people walk up the mountain*

Positive sentence: A few people walk up the mountain.

*There are still some people that walk up the mountain!*

When do you use little/ a little?

Negative sentence: She saves little money every month.

*She is not saving enough money*

Positive sentence: She saves a little money every month.

*She is able to save some money every month!*
