Leadership Styles are the strategies or methods adopted by leaders in order to influence or control their followers towards the achievement of the goals of the society or group.

1. Autocratic (Authoritarian) leadership style
2. Democratic (Participatory) leadership style
3. Laissez faire  leadership style
4. Paternalistic (father) leadership

WHO IS AN AUTOCRATIC LEADER?

Watch the video in which Tyrell describes his reaction to racist remarks from  classmates at school. Students who experience this often feel powerless. This makes it harder for them to speak out.

AUTOCRATIC LEADERSHIP STYLE

The autocratic leadership style is the type in which the leader take absolute control over every activity and give instructions to the followers to comply. The leader does not solict the views o the followers in decision making.

• There is high/increased in productivity
• The leaders ensure that organisational goals are achieved at all cost which leads to development.
• There is discipline
• There is quick decision making

DISADVANTAGES / DEMERITS OF AUTOCRATIC LEADERSHIP STYLE

• The autocratic leadership does not consider the consider the rights of the followers
• Autocratic leadership does not encourage personal initiative
• Also, accountability is not transparent under this leadership style

• There is only one way communication which is from leadership to followers.
• Followers tend to relax and do their own things at the absence of the leader.
