The past simple
  • Why: to talk about something in the past
How: 
add -ed to the end of the root form of the verb
If the verb ends in -y, we turn the -y into an -i and add -ed
cry --> cried
For regular verbs that end in a vowel+y, add –ed.
play --> played

Possessive pronouns modify a noun or pronoun to make the sentence clearer and more specific but can also be left out.
