Last Christmas we travelled to Edinburgh to visit my cousins.

We had very bad weather which is a shame. We stayed until New Year’s Eve and helped bring down the Christmas tree before we left. We will visit them again in Easter. Hopefully we’ll have nice weather. It’ll be spring, so probably we will!

You use the past simple to talk about actions that happened in the past.

Regular verbs are formed by adding -ed to the verb. Verbs with a short vowel

+ a consonant get a double consonant before -ed. Verbs that have a -y at

the end get -ied if there is a consonant in front of the -y. If there is a vowel in

front of the -y it gets -ed after -y.
