Past Simple - Irregular verbs
Some verbs in English are irregular, this means that in the past tense they  have their own form:

to write -> wrote; I wrote her a letter last week
to go -> went; He went to Italy last year
to make -> made: They made a very nice meal two days ago

 Regular Verbs
After a regular verb you put -ed'

I walk -> I walked
He walks -> He walked
They walk -> They walked

consonant = medeklinker
vowel = klinker

A verb ending on a consonant + -y, 
then -y changes to -ie: 
I carry - I carried

Not with a vowel + -y: 
I play - I played

A verb endinf on an -e, just add a -d: 
I live - I lived

The last consonant is doubled when there is 1 vowel (a,i,e,o,u) in front of it: 
I drop - I dropped
