Notes and rests

We've learned that we can read rhythm by looking at the appearance (uiterlijk) of a note.
We can do the same thing with rests. Rests are little "pauses" in music where you don't play anything.

How many beats we have in a measure (maat) depends on the time signature. In Dutch we say: maatsoort. 

The first number tells us how many beats we have in a measure.
