Present continuous

Gebruik je als iets tijdelijk is, of als iets nu aan de gang is en bij irritatie. Vaak in combinatie met woorden als now, at the moment, as we speak, Look!, Listen!, Be quiet! etc.

Now Carol is playing with her cat.

Is Carol playing with her cat now?

Carol is not playing with her cat now.

vorm: am / is / are + verb + ING

Present simple

Gebruik je als iets een gewoonte is, regelmatig gebeurt of een feit is. Vaak in combinatie met woorden als always, often, never, usually, sometimes, every day, each year, etc.

Carol usually plays with her toys.

Does Carol usually play with her toys?

Carol doesn't usually play with her toys.

vorm: 

I / you / we / they = verb - DO + verb - do not + verb

he / she / it = verb+S - DOES + verb - DOES NOT + verb
