De Present Perfect Continuous 

- als iets in het verleden begonnen is en nog steeds voortduurt en je wil vooral de tijdsduur benadrukken. 

Voorbeeld: I have been studying English for five years (vijf jaar lang en nu nog steeds). 

- als de handeling je irriteert :

Voorbeeld: I have been waiting for your reply for over a week!

- bij de woorden 'recently' en 'lately':

Voorbeeld: Recently, I have been feeling sick.

It has been raining all morning.

It rained and now there is a puddle on the street.
