What does "grade" mean?

For example: bored

You can be: 

a bit bored

a little bored

very bored

But what about: amazing?

Can you be: 

a bit amazing

a little amazing

very amazing

Answer: no, because amazing is an ungradable adjective

Can you be: 

a bit amazing

a little amazing

very amazing

  ungradable adjectives

For example: amazing, brilliant, exhausted, ridiculous

You can use them with adverbs like: 

completely, totally, absolutely, really
