Slide 10 - Question ouverte

Multiplying decimals
Step by step plan:
1. Multiply both numbers by a power of 10 to make whole numbers.
2. Calculate the new multiplication
3. Count how many powers of 10 you multiplied the numbers with in step 1.
4. Divide your final answer by as many powers of 10 as you found in step 3
5. Check if you answer makes sense by estimating
     3.2 ⋅ 4.2 =
1.   32 ⋅ 42 =

2.  32 ⋅ 42 = 1344

3. 3.2 ⋅ 10 = 32
    4.2 ⋅ 10 = 42

4. 1344 ÷ 100 = 13.44

5. estimation: 3  ⋅  4 = 12
12 is close to 13.44 so my answer makes sense
