Present simple, present continuous

When we move the tense back to write the reported speech, present simple changes to past simple and the present continuous changes to past continuous.

'I travel a lot in my job.'

Jamila said that she travelled a lot in her job.

'The baby is sleeping!'

He told me the baby was sleeping.

Future: am/are/is going to, will, can,

am/are/is going to:

"I am going to report you."

She said she was going to report him.

will:

"She will never change."

He said she would never change

can:

"They can do so much better."

The teacher said that they could do so much better

Reported speech: Questions

yes/no questions

'Do you like working in sales?' he asked.

He asked me if I liked working in sales.

wh - questions

He asked me what time the train left.
