The first tenses and structures we will discuss are:

=> Future simple (will)

=> Going-to future 

How do you form positive sentences in the future simple (will)?

1. subject + will + past participle
2. subject + will + inf without to
3. subject + will + simple past

How do you use the going to structure in positive sentences?

1. subject + am/is/are +going to + pa pa
2. subject + am/is/are +going to + simple past
3. subject + am/is/are +going to + inf without to

What is the going to future of: Jack (to go) to New York.

1. Jack is going to New York.
2. Jack is going to go to New York.

Will is used for predictions that are NOT based on evidence, but on your own opinion. 

=> I think, I hope, I expect, ...

+ making instant decisions 

Plans and intentions = NOT fixed You haven't invited her yet, you haven't decided when to invite her, but you are going to do that some time in the future

In a sentence without context both can be correct: The weather will be/is going to be nice 

BUT* I think the weather will be nice because it is my birthday. => You can only use WILL here 

I have studied the weather charts. The weather is going to be nice next week. => you can only use going to here.
