Wanneer gebruik je de present continuous?

• als het gaat om iets wat bezig is op het moment dat je erover praat of schrijft
  bv. I am explaining grammar at the moment.
         The students are learning about the present continuous.
• bij tijdelijke situaties
  bv. The family is staying at a hotel until their house is fixed.

Wanneer gebruik je de present continuous?

Uitzondering!

• om irritatie aan te geven
  (meestal met always / forever / constantly)
  bv. My parents are always nagging me to clean my room.
         I am constantly losing my things.

Let op!

De volgende werkwoorden zijn geen actieve werkwoorden, maar geven een toestand weer. Ze worden daarom niet gebruikt in de 'present continuous':

bv. to appear, be, (dis)like, hate, have, know, love, need, 

       remember, seem, understand, want, wish

                                   I am loving you.   -->   I love you.
