• Wanneer gebruik je de Present Simple?

Wanneer?

De Present Simple gebruik je:

als iets een gewoonte is.

als iets een feit is.

als iets regelmatig (niet) gebeurt. Er staan meestal signaalwoorden in de zin die aangeven of dit het geval is. Denk aan: always, every day/week/month/year, never, often, sometimes en usually.

Hoe?

De present simple vorm je door de stam te nemen. Op deze basisregel bestaat maar één standaard uitzondering. Bij de 3de persoon enkelvoud (he, she, it) moet je achteraan een -s toevoegen.

In het Engels gebruik je de Present Continuous als je praat over iets wat nu aan de gang is, wat je op dit moment aan het doen bent. In moeilijke woorden noem je het de 'duurvorm', omdat het nog steeds voortduurt; het is nog steeds bezig.

Hoe gebruik je het

De Present Continuous bestaat uit twee delen: een vorm van 'to be' (am/is/are) + een werkwoord met –ing erachter. De Present Continuous van 'to play' is dus: I am / He is / We are playing. Let op! In sommige gevallen moet je er een letter afhalen (bijv. have 🡪 having)

Wanneer gebruik je de Present Continuous?

1. Wanneer iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt.
2. Wanneer iets nu bezig of aan de gang is.
3. Wanneer iets in het verleden is gebeurd.
4. Wanneer iets in het verleden is begonnen en nu nog bezig is.

Present Continuous:

Wat is de regel van de present continuous?

3. vorm van to be + ww+-ing
